If you’re a young adult (aged 18-26) looking to understand yourself more, expand your sense of community, get out of your comfort zone, and foster a greater connection to nature through immersive adventures—this is the excursion for you!

Who is this Trip For?

This trip is designed for young adults between the ages of 18 and 26 who feel a strong calling to learn more about themselves in a safe and supportive environment. This excursion is especially designed for those young adults who find themselves confronting the unique challenges and difficulties of this period of life. Common challenges include:

  • A sense of confusion over the direction of life

  • Indecision and uncertainty

  • Loneliness and isolation

  • Feeling overwhelmed and pressured to “figure things out”

  • Living with a lack of purpose and meaning

  • Insecurity, self-doubt, and self-criticism

  • Shame/Embarrassment

Our New Zealand excursion will give you the space and opportunity to address these challenges and struggles, allowing you to grow into yourself and your life with greater confidence and fulfillment.

How Will It Benefit You?

This excursion is an immersive experience that builds on the efficacy and research that the use of nature connectedness, adventure activities, and cross-cultural experiences are the building blocks for personal growth.

Why Adventure with Apraxis?

At Apraxis, we know ADVENTURE. Adventure is a powerful tool to help build greater self-awareness and confidence on how to navigate various transitions throughout life. Our therapeutic excursion is designed around the concept of the “Hero’s Journey”—a story of self-realization, growth, and transformation. This journey activates your inner hero, guiding you on a personal quest toward understanding and accepting yourself. You'll overcome challenges, confront inner conflicts, and emerge stronger, ready to inspire positive change in the world.

Our Excursions are Built on Three Fundamental Concepts: Discover - Connect - Empower

Discover: Adventure is a powerful tool for self-awareness and confidence. The Hero’s Journey symbolizes the activation of our internal hero, guiding us on a personal quest toward understanding and accepting ourselves. You'll overcome challenges, confront inner conflicts, and emerge stronger, ready to inspire positive change in the world.

Connect: Our trip fosters genuine connections—with yourself, others, and nature. You'll engage in meaningful conversations, participate in group dynamics, and explore topics that matter deeply to you. Whether you’re surfing the waves, trekking through rainforests, or sharing stories around a campfire, you'll build lasting bonds with like-minded individuals who share your journey.

Empower: Through adventure and therapy, you’ll gain tools to navigate life’s transitions with confidence. From mindfulness practices to self-regulating techniques, you'll learn to face fears and overcome limiting beliefs in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Program Aim

This program is designed to follow the ultimate hero’s journey while adventuring through the environments of Te Tauihu (the Top of the South Island, NZ). Challenge and adventure will be built into the journey to intentionally build a belief in self and deepen a connection to nature by exploring both Western and indigenous perspectives of the environment. Students will take part in authentic environmental and cultural immersion experiences that create a platform for transformational learning, centered around a testing journey in the remote wilderness of Aotearoa. The program will be scaffolded around gratitude for the environment, nature immersion, and personal wellbeing, which are all interconnected from an indigenous Māori perspective. Experiences and learnings will be woven into set reflection times and ceremonies during and on completion of the program.
