Stan Gentry

Individual, Couples, & Family therapist

Stan is dedicated to providing support to those in need, whether it's during a crisis or when individuals seek assistance in understanding their current situations. His aim is to serve as both a compassionate listener during times of need and a facilitator when the moment for change arises. Stan collaborates closely with clients to guide them from the challenges they face toward the freedom of autonomy.

Stan's clientele is diverse, with a specialization in assisting emerging adults and mid-lifers experiencing challenges such as anxiety, depression, issues relevant to the LGBTQIA+ community, and difficulties adapting to life transitions.

Utilizing a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Constructivist Narrative Therapy, Stan collaborates closely with clients to comprehend behavioral patterns and strategies for adjustment, all while uncovering the inherent strength and resilience within every individual. His guiding mantra emphasizes that progress is achievable in life, no matter how small the steps may be.  While life may never attain perfection, with the right guidance, everyone can acquire the tools needed to confidently shape their unique life stories.

With a passion for assisting individuals on their therapeutic journeys, Stan is a strong proponent both traditional and experiential therapy approaches. Long before pursuing a career as a therapist, he developed an appreciation for the healing potential of extended, nature-based, experiential activities. Stan's interest in backpacking and long-distance trekking allowed him to witness personal transformations as individuals disconnected from the modern world, slowed down, and delved into self-reflection.  Stan incorporates this wisdom in his experiential offerings with clients.  Additionally, these same principles can be effectively applied within the counseling room to enrich the journey of self-discovery as he uses the metaphor that life resembles a hiking trail, complete with its ups and downs, easy stretches, challenging inclines, rewarding vistas, and challenging days when it seems like adversity is persistent
