Experience a transformative journey towards a confident and purposeful adulthood with Basecamp, our group program for Emerging Adults.
Basecamp offers a unique and experiential approach to healing and growth, combining outdoor and adventure-based activities with individual and group therapy sessions facilitated by licensed therapists, counselors, and youth specialists. Our program is designed specifically for emerging adults who are struggling with the transition to adulthood, providing opportunities to explore their strengths, develop a sense of purpose, and set goals for the future. Through our program, participants can gain a deeper understanding of themselves and build the confidence needed to navigate the challenges of young adulthood, while also developing meaningful relationships with peers who are going through similar experiences. Basecamp provides a safe and supportive environment for emerging adults to grow, learn, and prepare for the next steps in their lives.
What is Basecamp?
Basecamp is a group program designed specifically for emerging adults who are struggling with the transition to adulthood.
Through our program, participants will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of outdoor and adventure-based activities, such as hiking, rock climbing, camping, and kayaking. In addition to these activities, our program also includes individual and group therapy sessions, facilitated by our clinical team of licensed therapists, counselors, and youth specialists. We blend these approaches with the intention to support participants to identify their strengths, develop a sense of purpose, overcome barriers and set goals for the future.
One of the unique features of our program is the emphasis on building relationships with peers. Participants will have the opportunity to connect with others who are going through similar experiences, and develop a supportive community that can help them feel less isolated and alone.
Basecamp members will also have the opportunity to participate in one of our national and/or international excursions, where they will be able to use the experiential skills gained in the program to have a life changing experience.
Who is basecamp for?
Basecamp is ideal for emerging adults who may have tried traditional therapy but are looking for a more unique and experiential approach to their healing journey.
This program is inclusive and designed for all genders, aged 18-25, who are struggling with the transition to adulthood and may be experiencing feelings of anxiety, depression, isolation, and confusion about their next steps in life. Basecamp is a great fit for those who enjoy outdoor and adventure-based activities and are looking for a therapeutic program that combines these activities with therapy that can be fun, challenging and rewarding. Also a great fit for those that have wanted to experience more outdoor and adventurous activities, but haven’t had the opportunities.
Why Basecamp?
Basecamp was created to bridge the gap left by society's inadequate support for emerging adults struggling with anxiety, depression, uncertainty, and isolation, which hinder their transition to adulthood.
By providing opportunities to build skills, develop courage, build community, and find meaning and purpose, Basecamp helps address and solve these issues. Using a "dosing" approach, our mix of traditional and adventure therapies allows participants to gradually increase their tolerance for uncertainty, risk-taking, and discomfort, leading to greater resilience and adaptability in daily life.
We see this as a “rite of passage” - and support each participant on their journey of self-discovery.
What to Expect
Basecamp provides a mix of traditional and experiential therapies for our participants.
Each participant will have a therapist for their individual therapy, and will also be expected to meet twice a week for group therapy. One group therapy session a week will be dedicated to process and psychoeducational groups, where we will introduce a variety of topics associated with emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, “design your life” and associated themes important for emerging adults and the struggles they are facing. The knowledge gained from these groups will not only aid them in their personal journey, but will also assist them in building the skills and mindset for the other experiential processes we facilitate.
The second group of the week is designated to adventure and recreational activities. Some of these activities include: hikes at Kennesaw Mountain, or other surrounding trails, climbing at our community partners gym, Stone Summit, and kayaking and stand up paddling at Lake Allatoona. Once a month, we will also have a local excursion, which can range from a full day outing to overnight backpacking or camping. Some of the examples of the full day outings would be river rafting the Ocoee river, caving, or hiking to some of the beautiful waterfalls in North Georgia. Please send us an email for a calendar of upcoming events.
